Louis Vuitton turns 200
August 2021 marks an important anniversary for one of the most important and beloved maisons of Galleria Cavour: Louis Vuitton.
Two hundred years ago, in fact, the founder of what turned out to be one the the most surprising adventures in the world of fashion and design was born. It was on August, 4th 1821 and only sixteen years later, as a teenager, the young Vuitton, after an apprenticeship at Monsieur Marechal’s luggage shop, decided to found his own homonymous brand, which would shortly lead him from the fortunate universal exhibition of Paris in 1867 to open boutiques worldwide.
The legendary fortune of his creations is known to everyone: his travel trunks, the bags with the unique monogram, the iconic Speedy and Keepall which have seduced kings, Hollywood stars and illustrious personalities such as David Bowie, Audrey Hepburn or Anna Magnani, have made history. Behind the Maison, as it always happens in the great pioneering adventures, there was the man: Louis Vuitton.
Craftsman, creative, adventurer, meticulously attentive to the quality of his products, to the innovation of materials and great communicator. Therefore, 200 years later, the maison, which was nominated the most precious luxury brand worldwide for six consecutive years (2006-2012) and continues to be the symbol of exclusiveness and beauty, has decided to commemorate him.
Louis 200, as the celebration of the bicentenary was named, will pay homage to the history, the life and the achievements of the great founder from August throughout the year, through showcases, exhibitions, partnerships and surprises yet to be revealed, among which there is a novel (which will be released in October) and a documentary about the origin, the fortune and the heritage which led, with ingenuity and ability, from the first boutique in rue des Capucines to the worldwide consecration of the brand.
The new pioneering Louis Vuitton collection is already available in the boutique of Galleria Cavour in Bologna: dont’ miss this blend between history and fashion which has been a symbol of elegance and prestige for centuries.
